The power unit holds the stack shut against the feed pressure and drives the squeeze on a membrane press. Under-size it and the press closes slowly and weeps between the plates; over-size it and the oil runs hot for nothing.

The unit is sized from the closing force the frame needs and the cycle time you want, then built to fit the space you have — on a skid beside the press, or on the frame itself.
It is also the usual upgrade path for an older press with a pump that is noisy, slow or leaking: the frame and the plates stay, the power pack and its control are replaced.
