Slurry Treatment & Dewatering Solutions

TBM Slurry Treatment

TBM Slurry Treatment

High-capacity slurry treatment for slurry shield tunneling, sized around the drive and the geology.

A slurry TBM sets the flow; the separation plant has to follow it through changing geology without stopping the drive.

Typical capacity
150 – 400 m³/h
Slurry type
Bentonite / mixed face
Target cake
30 – 45 % dry solids

What the plant has to do

The separation plant is laid out along the drive so it can be extended as the machine advances. Coarse material is stockpiled, the sand goes to its own skip and the cake leaves the site by truck.

Recommended treatment process

Each stage is selected around the slurry and the disposal route.

  1. 01

    Coarse separation

A large screen takes out cobbles and cutter debris before the cyclones.

  2. 02

    Desanding

Two-stage cyclones cut the sand and silt fractions to protect the press.

  3. 03

    Conditioning

Flocculant dosing is automated from the measured solids load.

  4. 04

    Dewatering

Membrane presses give the dry solids the disposal route requires.

  5. 05

    Water recovery

Filtrate is returned to the TBM feed tank, closing the loop.

Recommended equipment

Equipment is configured around the capacity, solids concentration and target cake moisture of your project.

Operating considerations

Changing geology

The plant is designed for the hardest ground in the drive, not the average.

Redundancy

Feed pumps and dosing run duty/standby so the drive does not stop for maintenance.

Layout along the drive

Equipment is arranged so the plant can be extended as the drive advances.
